YOUNGSTERS in Hoddlesden will be fundraising this weekend to repair a willow arbour destroyed by vandals.
The youth committee of Hoddlesden Millennium Green, who are aged ten to 16, will hold a coffee morning and book sale in the village on Saturday in a bid to raise £200.
They need the cash to repair an igloo-shaped arbour made of willow, which had its branches snapped off by vandals on January 31.
Just a few months before, the youngsters had dedicated a weekend to erecting the shelter on The Green with some help from adults after coming up with the idea and applying for the grant money themselves.
The arbour should have grown into a shelter and was built to be enjoyed by the whole community.
The event will run from 10am until noon at the Carers Centre.
