A CAR park blighted by poor drainage is to get a £95,000 makeover to stop it flooding during bad weather.
The Holgate Street car park in Great Harwood has suffered as a result of blockages caused by run off from the planted areas next to it.
Half the car park is not properly surfaced and this has led to it becoming a dumping ground for untaxed and unroadworthy vehicles.
It will now be resurfaced, repainted and improved drainage and lighting will be installed. Hyndburn Council will fund £85,000 of the work and the area council will provide £10,000.
Coun Lynn Wilson, chair of Great Harwood area council, said: "This is great news for the town. The grass verge running between the car park and Blackburn Road will have new signage to form an entrance marker into the town centre, and in the summer colourful flower towers and hanging baskets will be placed along there to provide a riot of colour."
It is anticipated that the work will start in June.
