COUNCIL bosses are looking into the possibility of installing new CCTV cameras around Darwen town centre after a spate of recent break-ins.
As reported in the Lancashire Telegraph, a new shutter is to be installed on the inside of a window at Darwen Market after burglars caused damage and stole stock. The incident was among a small spate of crimes in the Railway Road and town centre area.

Labour’s prospective parliamentary candidate in Darwen, Will Straw, said he had held a meeting with town police chief Sgt Dave Sherrington and Blackburn with Darwen Council community safety manager Peter Waring.
Mr Straw said: “My view is there has been a spate of break-ins and it must be a strong contender for additional security measures.”
