HODDLESDEN residents are being urged to keep an eye out for suspicious vehicles following four car crimes in three days.

Yesterday morning a blue Vauxhall Astra was taken from Avallon Way, just before 8am, after the owner left the engine running to defrost the windscreen.

And overnight on Thursday a set of number plates, KY56 XPU, were stolen from a Vauxhall Zafira in Blacksnape Road.

Also on Thursday, at 8.45pm, two men smashed a window of a Ford Focus in Gleneagles Avenue. They pulled up to the car in a silver Vauxhall Astra and searched the glovebox, but fled empty-handed after they were disturbed by the owner.

The day before, a Renault Laguna was stolen from Glencoe Avenue after the owner left the engine running in the morning to defrost his windscreen. The car has still not been found.

Inspector Andrea Bradbury said: "We'd like people to get the registration numbers of all suspicious vehicles in Hoddlesden."
