AN Accrington man who dumped household waste on land in Heyworth's Lane, Hapton, has been fined £100 by local magistrates.
Paul Jopson, 21, of Springhill Road, Accrington, was tracked down by enforcement officers from Burnley Council after investigations revealed that the dumped waste had come from his home.
Miss Sajada Khan, prosecuting on behalf of the council, said the waste, which included storage boxes for electrical equipment, was first discovered on November 16 last year by a member of the council's enforcement team.
When interviewed by enforcement officers, Jopson admitted he had been solely responsible for dumping the rubbish at the site.
He was subsequently prosecuted under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 for depositing waste on land without a waste management licence.
He pleaded guilty to this offence at Reedley Magistrates' Court and was fined £100. In addition he was ordered to pay £125 in prosecution costs.
