PEOPLE in Pendle are invited to enjoy an evening of good food and fashion which will help raise money for a local charity.

The event is part of Fairtrade Fortnight, and will be held at St Bartholomew's Church, Colne, on Thursday, March 1, from 7pm to 9pm.

Volunteers will take part in a catwalk fashion show, modelling a selection of ethical clothing and accessories.

Coun Alan Davies, Leader of Pendle Council, said: "All proceeds go to Pendleside Hospice where the staff do a fantastic job providing medical and emotional support for sick patients and their families.

"Please show support and celebrate Pendle's position as the first Fairtrade borough in the UK."

Fairtrade Fortnight runs nationally from February 26 until March 11.

Pendle Council and Pendle's Fairtrade Steering Group organised the event with the support of Fair Necessities, and Ocarina, a Fairtrade shop in Colne.

Coun John David, Executive Member for the Environment, said: "We want to raise awareness of the range of Fairtrade food and drink products available.

"There will be a range of Fairtrade stalls on the night - you will even be able to purchase items modelled in the fashion show."

Tickets are £5 and £2.50 for concessions, which includes food and drink.

You can purchase your ticket from Pendleside Hospice, Nelson Town Hall, Fair Necessaties, Ocarina in Colne, Open Door in Colne, Christ Church and St Bartholomew's Church.

The catering is being provided by Colne Open Door, with the ingredients being supplied by United Co-op and the Co-op Group.
