AN "insecure" man, said to think it was acceptable to slap women, will be getting some guidance from the probation service.
Paul Higson, 46, attacked his partner, who claimed she had previously been assaulted by him, Burnley magistrates were told.
Higson, of Birtwistle Avenue, Colne, admitted assault by beating, last December 10.
The defendant, who had no previous convictions, caused a minor injury.
He was given a 12- month community order with supervision. The bench said they hoped would address his drinking and perhaps his attitude to violence towards women.
