CAPTAINS at Withnell Royal Oak Golf are aiming to raise money for local charities – by charging players for their golfing blunders.
Men’s and ladies’ captain’s John Grecic and Lynda Williams announced their departure at this year’s annual meeting, declaring that every member who entered the bunker on their first hole has to donate to charity.
The proceeds of the money raising effort will be given to Rosemere Cancer Foundation and children’s charity Derian House.
On top of the retiring captain’s forfeit’s, a Lancashire quiz night was also hosted last month, which raised £2,120.26 for the two charities.
