A MOTORCYCLIST has died after colliding with a car in Blackburn.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened at around 4:40pm yesterday on Higher Ramsgreave Road.

It is thought the 46-year-old motorcyclist, Kevin Donaghue, from Clayton-le-Moors, lost control of his Kawasaki bike and collided with an oncoming Volkswagen Golf.

Mr Donaghue was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with multiple injuries but sadly died a short time later.

A statement from his family said: "Kevin was a thoughtful man who was much loved by all. He will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him."

The road was closed for four hours following the incident.

PS Tracey Ward of the Road Policing Team said: “This is a tragic loss for the family of the Mr Donaghue who are being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time.

"I am keen to speak to anyone that may have been travelling along Higher Ramsgreave Road at the time of the incident, and any information they may have could help us to establish exactly how this collision occurred.”
