A COLNE supermarket has announced it is set to undergo a major refurbishment.
Asda, in Swinden Retail Park, Corporation Street, will make a number of improvements including a new optical department, a new-look pharmacy and an expanded food-to-go range.
The 41,000 sq ft store will also get a new cafe and a community room to serve local organisations.

Asda Colne’s community life champion, Diane Springthorne, said: “The new community room will give us the chance to expand the benefits of the Community Life Scheme to a wider group of organisations in Colne and the activity plan will be great for local residents who want to meet new people and join in with recreational activities, as well as using the drop-in services.”
Those drop-in services will include sessions run by the Job Centre and Citizens Advice Bureau.
Store manager, Michaela Doherty, added: “As well as all the exciting new features, our new look store is located on a thriving retail park. The other retailers give the site an extensive offer; we can’t wait to welcome new retailers over the coming months.
“We’ve worked hard to ensure that the store accommodates the needs of all our customers and I’m sure they will enjoy the new shopping experience.”
The retailer will also launch a new Click and Collect drive-through to allow customers to pre-order online and pick up from the collection point in the store’s car park.
