• The Spread Eagle Mellor

4.5 STARS

"My wife and I were taken out for Sunday lunch with our son and daughter in law and grandson to this excellent child friendly pub/restaurant with wonderful views of the countryside for as far as the eyes can see.

The restaurant itself is modern, clean and a credit to the present owners. The menu is varied and good quality well done Chef and kitchen staff.

This is not pub food it's excellent food. The waiting staff are young, smartly dressed polite and enthusiastic, nothing was too much trouble for them ensuring our 1 year old grandson got the best possible high chair for his age and size.

I must admit we never knew this placed existed but we will certainly be returning in the near future."

• Calypso Caribbean Restaurant

"There's nothing like tucking into a plate crammed with the best food while listening to Bob Marley, with a cold Red Stripe in your hand. Not had a bad meal here yet! LOVE the red snapper and the jerk chicken, the fries are the best around and my hubby reckons the goat curry is the business."

"Roomali is one of the North West's hidden gems. Really delicious food and wonderful service. The Paneer Tikka was out of this world and the Lamb Byriani was simply dreamy! If I lived in Blackburn, I'd be eating there every night! Can't recommend this enough!"

Review: The Oyster And Otter, Blackburn

• Ribchester Arms

4.5 STARS

"Had lunch there, nice welcome and drinks served whilst we took our time choosing from the large menu.

Some rather innovative dishes, e.g, Japanese crumbed king prawns on a bed of noodles which was delicious.

My deli platter was super, more like a gourmet ploughman with choices of cold cuts and cheeses. Well priced and pretty full for a poor weather day in June!

My only negative was it was rather cold inside, perhaps a fire or heating would've helped."

• Checco's

"The food is delicious and made to a great standard.

The staff are always friendly and happy to help. We are always seated and served in good time with no waiting around. The restaurant is cosy and has a warm friendly feel to it.

The menu has plenty of choice for all tastes and the prices are good too. Would recommend again and again!"
