POLICE have warned that someone could be killed following a rash of stone attacks on buses in Burnley.

A total of six attacks in the Manchester Road area have been reported at different times of the day over the last fortnight.

Officers have now stepped up their presence in the area but no arrests have been made.

Sgt Rodger Crew, of Burnley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said officers believe rocks and stones were being thrown by children as young as 10.

He said: “It is extremely dangerous. In some cases windows have been smashed.

“No one has so far been hurt, but the effect of smashing glass and the potential shock to a driver could cause an accident.”

Anyone with information should call police on 01282 472107, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
