FORMER Bond girl Shannon Ledbetter was clinging on to her dog collar as the Blackburn Cathedral canon took the plunge on the UK’s biggest rollercoaster.

Dr Ledbetter was joined by Nolan sister Linda Nolan, Bishop of Manchester David Walker and Gogglebox star the Rev Kate Bottley as she took the plunge on The Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach to raise cash for The Children’s Society.

More than 20 clergy from across the country, as well as children from the charity, conquered the coaster that reaches speeds of up to 85mph.

After two laps of the rollercoaster, Dr Ledbetter said: “I hope everybody enjoyed watching us looking terrified.

“It was quite exciting but I think the second time we went around I started to feel a bit sick. But it was great fun.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

Money raised from the ride will go towards the charity’s work with some of the UK’s most disadvantaged children, including those living in poverty.

Linda Nolan, who along with her sisters enjoyed success in the 1970s and ’80s with hits such as I’m in The Mood For Dancing, said: “It is amazing to think that there are 3.8million children living in poverty in England so I thought I would come down and help with this event.”
