ACCRINGTON Academy pupils were sent home after a power cut affected the school's internal system.
McDonald's in the town were also said to have been affected.
A spokeswoman for Electricity North West said around 100 properties lost power due to an underground cable fault at around noon.
Homes were reconnected at 3:30pm.
A spokeswoman for Asda said the store in Hyndburn Road stayed open but did close some of its chillers to preserve their contents.
She said: “We were trading as normal but the whole town centre was affected.”
