A DECISION on whether a Clitheroe vicar could take over the running of two extra churches is ‘expected soon’.
Rev Andy Froud, in charge of St Mary Magdalene’s church, could take over St Leonard’s in Downham and Christ Church in Chatburn after Canon Rodney Nicholson announced he intends to retire later this year.
Canon Nicholson, 68, took over St Paul’s Church in Clitheroe 24 years ago and also took on St Leonard’s and Christ Church 11 years ago. The changes are being discussed by church bosses and Rev Froud, who is also a part-time chaplain at Clitheroe Hospital, said he expected a decision soon.
St Paul’s would not have a full-time vicar if the plans are approved.
