BURNLEY Bridge Business Park bosses have confirmed that they have received an offer for one of the site’s giant warehouses.
The £50million park, at junction nine of the M65, was officially opened by Business Secretary Vince Cable in February, but was still without a tenant.
But owners Eshton Group said a bid for the 64,000 square feet Cobalt Building was now under consideration.
Details of the purchaser, and the purchase price for the building, have not yet been disclosed, but Eshton is expected to make a further announcement when the deal has been completed.
James Chapman, managing director, said: “Since the Burnley Bridge Business Park scheme was first announced, we have had high levels of interest from a wide range of potential occupiers.
“The launch event at the end of February has added to the buzz about the development, and we are del-ighted to have agreed a deal for the Cobalt Building so soon after completion.”
The Cobalt Building is one of four speculative buildings constructed as part of phase one at the 70-acre site, which received backing worth £3.85million from the European Reg-ional Development Fund.
Other speculative schemes included in the phase one programme are the recently completed blocks A and B at Magnesium Court, which will see a further 10,000 square feet added later this year.
The remainder of the scheme will be developed to the bespoke requirements of potential occupiers.
Mr Chapman added: “As Vince Cable said when he launched the scheme, developments like Burnley Bridge Business Park provide companies with ‘confidence to invest, to secure jobs and play their part in growing a stronger economy.’ “This deal demonstrates that our instincts about this location, and the scale and calibre of development it would support, were abolutely right .
“And we look forward to making further announcements very soon,” he added.
The business park could create up to 1,400 jobs.
