ORGANISERS hope that more than 300 people will dust down their trainers and take part in the Ribble Valley ‘Sport Relief Mile’.

That was the number of runners who took part last year and Ribble Valley Borough Council is aiming to attract more people to the event this time around.

The national event will see hundreds of thousands of runners take to the tarmac for good causes, with Clitheroe’s event to be held on Sunday, March 23.

People can run, walk or jog a one, three or six-mile circuit of Clitheroe Castle, setting off from the castle bandstand at 11am.

The council’s sports development officer, Peter Fletcher, said: “The last Sport Relief Mile at Clitheroe Castle attracted more than 300 participants and this year we want even more residents to get involved.

“Sport Relief Mile offers everyone, from mums and toddlers to seasoned runners, the chance to take part in the biggest mile in history.

“It looks set to be a great day at Clitheroe Castle, so rope in your pals, partners, families and colleagues, and get running.”

People can get involved regardless of ability or age and a fun day is guaranteed for all those participating in the event.

The entry price is £6 for adults, £3 for children and £15 for families.
