A FOOTBALL team from a Blackburn-based charity said farewell to a South Korean volunteer who has been working in the town for the past six months.
The Nightsafe charity, which helps young people who at risk of homelessness, fields a team of clients and volunteers in the Creative Support league, where they play other similar organisations at Ewood Park’s Indoor Centre.
Playing in Blackburn Rover kit, the day-centre football team, which has six players, has been doing really well in their league currently having won four, drew two and lost one. They bid farewell to Hojae Kim, volunteer from South Korea who headed home after spending six months in Lancashire.
Linda Sherratt, from Nightsafe, said: “Hojae came to us on placement from the CSV organisation. We have been impressed with his energy and attitude working with our young people at the night shelter.
“The football team also gave him a good send off.
“Hojae’s English also improved no end during his stay and he definitely developed a Lancashire accent while working with us.”
