A PROPOSAL to turn a former carpet tile trade centre into a gym has been recommended for refusal by planners.
Three vacant units at the Kenyon Business Centre in Brierfield are the subject of an application for a change of use.
Internal changes were proposed including removing walls between the units and creating showers and changing rooms in the 236 square metre buildings.
However a report to Pendle Council by case officer Keith Thompson said that the buildings were designated for employment and that changing its use to a gym would be in “conflict with the local plan”.
He added: “The proposal would undermine the thrust of policy to the detriment of the council’s ability to provide for sufficient employment land.”
