POLICE attending a report of a domestic row were confronted by a man wielding a baseball bat.

Blackburn magistrates heard a 12-year-old girl ran out of the house in tears when officers opened the front door. And the police had to threaten Robert Duncan Abrahams with a Tasar before he laid down his weapon. He later admitted having drunk a litre of vodka.

Abrahams, 41, of Gillibrand Street, Darwen, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour. He was made subject to community supervision for six months and ordered to do 60 hours unpaid work and pay £60 costs.

The chairman of the magistrates said whatever personal problems Abrahams had, he could not take a baseball bat and threaten anyone.
