BLACKBURN with Darwen’s GLOW service is being relaunched over the coming weeks.
The Guidance for Living Over Winter (GLOW) scheme, backed by Blackburn with Darwen Council, NHS and voluntary organisations, will offers winter housing advice to vulnerable people and can get them extra help.
Help available includes, an assessment for and access to affordable warmth interventions, emergency help with heating, review of benefits entitlement, a handyperson to help keep properties, wind, weathertight and safe, assessment and support to prevent falls and ensure home safety, a personal crisis contingency plan and access to other assistance The GLOW service is being relaunched over the coming weeks.
Councillor Mohammed Khan, Executive Member for Health and Adult Social Care, said: "The GLOW scheme is incredibly important for many people in the winter months. We can check that they are getting all the benefits they are entitled to and that they have the right heating, insulation and fire safety measures.”
