Lancashire County Council rejects 24-hour Burnley taxi rank

Lancashire Telegraph: Lancashire County Council rejects 24-hour Burnley taxi rank Lancashire County Council rejects 24-hour Burnley taxi rank

LANCASHIRE County Council has objected to a proposed 24-hour taxi rank in Burnley.

The council’s highways department said amended plans for the rank at the junction of Abel Street and Taylor Street were ‘inadequate’.

Taxi boss Mohammed Zaman wants to use land at the rear of Abel Street as parking spaces for five private hire cars.

In a report, the county council said: “Even though the parking arrangement has been amended and slightly improved, the facilities are still inadequate and there is insufficient space to allow vehicles to enter and leave the spaces without awkward manoeuvring.

“Having regard to the number of vehicles proposed and the inconvenient parking arrangement, this is likely to lead to parking on the public highway.”

Burnley councillors will make a decision on the application on January 9.

Well done LCC!

They will just park wherever they want anyway so at least you haven't wasted any taxpayers money on signs and paint.
