A-LEVEL students from Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form have signed up to a scheme to act as learning mentors for children at Pendle Primary Academy.
Formerly Walter Street Primary School, the academy works closely with the college which acts as a sponsor to the Pendle Academy Trust.
The college has provided 14 students with an opportunity to work as learning mentors, giving them a taste of working in classrooms and providing essential support to Year Five and Six children.
Julie Burnside, head teacher at Pendle Primary Academy, said: “I am delighted to have the support of the learning mentors from Nelson and Colne College.
“They are a fine example to my young pupils of success in academic achievement and as young local students they are proving that there are no barriers to learning that cannot be overcome.”
