A Christmas fair raising money for a Darwen cat rescue centre was ‘the best ever’ according to the centre’s owner.
Maureen Savage organises the event at Derwent Hall in George Street every year to raise money for her charity, Moggies, based in Stansfield Street.
Miss Savage, who combines her charity work with working at Royal Blackburn Hospital, said the event had raised a lot of money and been very successful.
She said: “Everything was selling at a phenomenal rate and everyone who came had a really good time.
“And the girls in the kitchen all worked so hard to get food out, and they sold out by 1pm.
“There was a lovely atmosphere and it was a lovely day.”
There were also raffles on offer, with Mrs Thrush, of Darwen, winning a Christmas hamper and Gordon Howard, also of Darwen, winning the ‘winter warmer’ hamper.
