A FOOTBALL fan could be facing a further charge after a bottle was allegedly hurled at QPR player Joey Barton during a match at Turf Moor.
John Pounder, 26, has pleaded not guilty to using threatening behaviour towards Barton during the October 26 fixture with Burnley.
He has also denied throwing a two-thirds full bottle of Coca-Cola towards the playing area, during a brief appearance at the town’s magistrates court.
Prosecutor Parveen Akhtar said CCTV had just emerged regarding the incident, in which Barton is said to have been struck on the head by the bottle.
She told the court that consideration was being given to a further assault charge being made against Pounder, once the footage had been studied more closely.
Further consultations would be undertaken with Lancashire Police if a 14-day adjournment was granted, she added.
Dominic Ingle, defending, said he would agree to the adjournment so he could also watch the CCTV clip and advise his client.
Pounder, of Cedar Avenue, Haslingden, was released on bail until December 6, on condition he does not return to Turf Moor.
Barton was struck on the head by the bottle in the second half of the Clarets 2-0 victory over the West London club.
