LANCASHIRE County Council has detailed how its employment and apprenticeship programmes are helping young people into work.

Education boss Matthew Tomlinson (pictured) said: “The county council is committed to supporting the recruitment and training of 16-24 year olds.

“We are working with local businesses and have secured hundreds of apprenticeship and employment opportunities across the private sector.

“This could be through our Future Horizons, WorkStart or Apprenticeship programmes.

“We have roles in creative and digital media, business admin, ICT, childcare, warehousing, horticulture engineering, events and promotions, with more continually added.

“Our pre-apprenticeship programme Future Horizons can help young people by giving them confidence, skills and knowledge “A placement can lead to a paid training contract with the county or private sector apprenticeship.”
