A PROPOSED new superstore in Clitheroe has been hailed as creating greater competition in the town.
Supermarket chain Aldi is considering building a new store, and a non-retail unit, on the former Barker’s Nursery site, off Whalley Road.
A public consultation is being held today in the St Mary’s Centre, in Church Lane, from 1.30pm to 7pm.
Brian Scott, of Rawdon Property, joint applicants for the scheme, said: “The delivery of the proposed Aldi and non-food retail unit will regenerate this vacant brownfield site, and provide up to 50 job opportunities.
“The proposed Aldi store will provide greater competition in Clitheroe, and give residents more choice, and value for money. We look forward to discussing the proposals with residents today.”
