A BLACKBURN businessman has been named as the director of the year in the North West.

Majid Hussain, of Accrol Papers, beat 27 other shortlisted directors to the title at the Institute of Directors North West awards.

He also won the family director of the year title at the award ceremony at Lancashire County Cricket Club.

Cathy Elliott of Lancashire Community Foundation, which has an office in Accrington won public and third sector director of the year, The director of the year awards is in its tenth year.

Tony Attard, chairman of IoD North West, said: “The director of the year awards are always a great event to be involved with, and this year was no exception.

“I’m very proud that in the last decade the awards have grown in popularity, and this year we received a record number of really high quality entries.

He added despite the economy the winners and those shortlisted had raised the bar for north west business.
