A TEENAGER claimed she was raped because she did not want to admit she had consensual sex, a jury was told.

A defence barrister told a jury the 16-year-old student made up the allegations because she was worried she would get into trouble.

At an earlier hearing, Judge Pamela Badley heard that Daniel Rakestraw, 19, was alleged to have stopped his motorbike when he saw the girl walking near the Raj restaurant, in Bolton Road, Blackburn, with two male friends.

It was claimed he swore at her friends before dragging her to his father’s house, where he tied her to a bed and raped her.

While questioning the 16-year-old girl, who appeared via video link, Rachel Woods, defending, said: “Although you were reluctant to start with, you went with Daniel once things had calmed down.

“I suggest that there were some nasty things said to your friends, but you went with him eventually of your own accord.

“He did not drag you into the house where you claim you were raped and he did not handcuff you and tie you up on the bed against your will. You did not have any injuries to either of your wrists.”

The court was told that the alleged victim had a 1cm bruise on her left breast and a healing abrasion on her left wrist, which she said had been caused when she caught it on her bag.

Miss Woods said: “You did not have any bruising to any other part of your body.

“How come that is the case if you were tied up in the way that you have described?

“I suggest to you that you were not raped, just as you were not raped on any other occasion by Daniel Rakestraw and that you simply had to say that was the case.”

The girl replied by saying no, and shook her head.

Rakestraw denies four charges of rape, one of kidnap and another of false imprisonment.
