A NEW code designed to help uphold the rights and maintain the personal dignity of older people could be adopted by Ribble Valley Borough Council.
The ‘Dignity Code’ has been produced by the National Pensioners Convention and councils were asked at a recent meeting to introduce the code.
The report is due to be considered by the council’s health and housing committee on Thursday, August 29.
It states that the aim of the code is ‘to uphold the rights and maintain the personal dignity of older people, within the contest of ensuring the health, safety and well being of those who are increasingly less able to care for themselves or to properly conduct their affairs’.
