THREE British Olympic champions are set to join Sir Bradley Wiggins for his ride through the Ribble Valley and Pendle next month.

The Ride With Brad event is returning to East Lancashire for the second year in a row on Sunday August 11.

Established as part of the launch of the Bradley Wiggins Foundation, it gives thousands of cyclists the chance to ride with the winner of the Tour de France and Olympic champion.

Laura Trott, Dani King and Joanna Rowsell, who now ride for the Wiggle-Honda team, won gold in the women’s Team Pursuit at last year’s London Olympics, with Trott also taking gold in the women’s omnium.

Laura Trott said: “We had incredible support from fans during the Olympics, and I can’t wait to have the opportunity to meet some of them, have a chat and do what we like doing best; riding our bikes.”

Thousands of cyclists took part last year to help raise money for the foundation, which aids young people in getting involved and developing their potential in sport.

Dani King said: “It is fantastic to be able to ride alongside fans in the Ride With Brad sportive.

“As a team we are really lucky to be supported by the Bradley Wiggins Foundation, so it is lovely to be able to give something back to say thank you.”

Riders are given a choice of three distances to take part in, 160km, 100km and 50km.

The course goes through villages including West Bradford, Wiswell, Gisburn, Waddington and Bolton-by-Bowland and will start and end in Barnoldswick.

Entry for the 160km and 100km routes will cost £40 and the 50km route will cost £35. For further information on the route, event details and how to enter visit www.ridewithbrad.com.
