MORE than 50 cannabis plants have been seized from a house in Bacup.

Officers raided the Burnley Road property and found around a stash with the estimated street value of £15,000 on Friday.

Police struck after a tip off from a resident who noticed the strong smell of the plants after the bathroom window was left open.

In the unoccupied house, they found 20 mature plants and 30 of medium size, alongside a bin bag full of the Class B drug ready to harvest.

Sgt Mark Taylor said: “The scale of the grow shows there are organised criminals behind it. The costs involved with renting the property, starting the set up, and then powering the hydroponics takes a lot of money.”
