THE new Clitheroe Food Bank, opening on Monday, July 8, is set to receive up to £2,500 from the town council.
Councillors voted to donate money from the town’s Common Good Fund after organisers of the bank, Clitheroe Christians in Partnership, submitted an application. The funds will go towards administration, transport, legal costs and insurance.
Town councillor Kevin Horkin said: “It’s a positive cause for us to support and we have decided to do whatever we can to help them succeed.
“We wish that there was not a need for it in the area but there is at the moment and I hope the money will go some way to solving the problem.”
