DESIGN guru Wayne Hemingway has created an electronic greetings card for well wishers to sign worldwide welcoming the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s new royal arrival.
The Red or Dead fashion house founder, who grew up in East Lancashire, hopes the vintage-inspired e-card will set a Guinness world record for the number of electronic signatures.
Computer software giant Adobe wants 50,000 royal fans to sign its card and congratulate William and Kate on the impending birth of their baby due in mid July.
Wayne, who has been working with Blackburn-based wallpaper company Graham & Brown for 10 years and is a former Queen Elizabeth Grammar School pupil, created a unique design for the idea.
It features ‘cut out’ images including the gold state coach, a toy corgi on wheels, a guardsman complete with red tunic and bearskin and a baby doll.
He said: “The idea behind the vintage cut out paper dolls design was taken from our museum The Land of Lost Content, which is full of items representing British popular culture.
“It's a light-hearted card and we had a lot of fun thinking what a royal doll would look like in a fake fur robe or pushing around a toy corgi on wheels.
“We think that this may be the first time a paper doll has been designed for the royal family and I hope they like it and get their craft scissors out."
A spokeswoman for Adobe said it was trying to establish a new world record by collecting the online signatures, using Adobe EchoSign.
