ROSSENDALE will feature in this year’s Walk and Ride Festival, which is now in its sixth year.

The festival will take place between Saturday, September 7 and Sunday, September 22, and there will be over 150 events – the biggest yet.

Events will range from a one-mile health walk to a gruelling 47-mile mountain bike ride, and all will be led by volunteer guides and organisers who have expert knowledge of the area and terrain.

Volunteer guides and event organisers will gather for the programme launch on July 5, where everyone will be able to find out more and receive the hot off the press programmes to take out to all corners of the South Pennines, from Bradford to Saddleworth and Calderdale to Rossendale.

This year the festival’s emphasis will be on all things cycling, in anticipation of Grand Depart of the Tour De France 2014, which will be exactly one year to the day of this event.

Day two of Le Tour will pass through the South Pennines.
