AN application has been submitted to extend the rear of a primary school to form a sheltered play area.
Brennands Endowed Primary School, Slaidburn, want a sturdy, weather resistant structure which would provide the children with the chance to play and learn outside the main school building.
The structure, made of timber, will be built at the rear of the school, which dates from the 18th Century and is grade two listed.
The single-story extension would be accessed via a class room, with another door leading outside. The school is hoping that the application balances between conserving the building and improving the education that it provides.
