THE record of a Ribble Valley Borough councillor has been criticised after she resigned last week.
Lib Dem councillor Sue Knox has spoken out over Christine Conner’s two year tenure representing the Littlemoor ward, Clitheroe.
Mrs Conner resigned on personal grounds and a by-election is due to be called.
Coun Knox, who represents the same ward, said: “Littlemoor ward has just had two years of a Conservative councillor who didn't turn up and did the bare minimum of casework.
“Last year she only attended 25 per cent of meetings and didn't turn up at all in the last six months.”
Conservative council leader Stuart Hirst said: “Councillor Conner has taken the decision to resign her seat for personal reasons and she no longer feels she is able to discharge her duties in the way in which she would wish. I fully understand her reasons for doing so and consider that she has taken a courageous and correct decision.”
He highlighted the previous four-year term when Coun Connor served “with commitment and dedication”.
