A NEW charity ‘Kids in Rossendale’ for disadvantaged children in the valley, is running a competition for youngsters to design its new logo.
The organisation is being run by a committee from Crawshawbooth, including Paula Riley, owner of Riley’s Butchers, and Louise Cooper, co-ordinator for Crawshawbooth Community Centre.
Mrs Riley said: “We want a local charity that can make a difference to the community where we all live. We have found there isn’t a lot of funding available for children aged six to 14, and I want to help families who are maybe less privileged, with events like school trips.
“We want everyone to get involved, so we are calling on primary and secondary schools to design a logo.”
Mrs Riley has raised more than £20,000 over the last two years for other charities.
Mrs Riley and her husband, Geoff, will also take part in the Monte Carlo or Bust rally, in July, as part of their fundraising push.
