A CROSS-BORDER manhunt has been launched after an ‘unprovoked attack’ outside a nightclub.
Detectives have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the alleged assault, which happened after a Blackburn Rovers game in Sheffield.
The 21-year-old victim was punched in the face, suffering a broken jaw.
PC Keith Wallace, from South Yorkshire Police, said: “This was a nasty attack.
“The offender hit the victim once and knocked him out cold.
“He suffered quite serious injuries that resulted in a five-day hospital stay, which is not what you want from a night out.
“We understand there had be an scrap between two groups inside The Leadmill nightclub.
“Both groups were kicked out and a friend of one of the groups went outside to find them fighting.
“He asked what was going on and a bloke smacked him.
“We have seen the offender on CCTV and this picture is from the club’s Facebook page on the night.
“We have circulated the picture around Sheffield and had no response so we think he might be from Blackburn.”
The incident happened in Leadmill Road, Sheffield at around 2.50am on April 7.
The afternoon before, Blackburn Rovers had lost 3-2 at Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough stadium.
The alleged attacker was white, 6ft 2ins, stocky and in his early to mid 30s with short brown hair. He was wearing a blue-collared top with white line trim on the collar.
