HIGH school students are being asked to design and manufacture the trophy for this year’s Rossendale Business Awards.

The competition is open to all pupils in the borough who attend the six main high schools.

Rob Carder, chairman of Valley At Work, said: “Last year, we asked Valley artist Christine Worswick to design the award and she created a beautiful horse trophy.

“I am delighted that this year the schools have been very enthusiastic about letting their pupils have the practical experience of taking a real design brief and creating a product.

“I am excited to see what pupils come up with and am sure the judges will have a difficult decision to make.”

Entries must be finished by the end of the summer term.

Mr Carder said: “The design has to be simple, yet effective, so the winning businesses will be proud to display it.”

Rossendale Business Awards will be held on November 6 at St Mary’s Chambers, Rawtenstall, and the winning designer will get a VIP invitation.
