A MAN struck up a conversation with a young woman walking down the street before getting into her home and trying to kiss her on the lips, a court heard.

The female managed to get Najaf Khan out of her home, only for him to return a few moments later and ask if she wanted a burger, the hearing was told.

A jury at Preston Crown Court also heard claims that, following his arrest, Khan exposed himself to three women detention officers.

Khan, 31, of Stanley Street, Brierfield went on trial yesterday, and denies seven charges.

These involve an alleged trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence, sexual assault, and also an attempted sexual assault, all allegedly on the same woman, on November 11 last year.

He also denies four further charges of exposure, two of the alleged offences said to have been against the same woman.

David Macro, prosecuting, told how the woman, in her 20s, was walking home when she saw someone apparently loitering at the end of the street in Brierfield.

The man struck up a conversation with her and she thought he might have moved in nearby.

Mr Macro said: “She thought the person was a bit strange, and fairly soon got a little bit suspicious of him.

“She carried on to her house, opened the door and tried to ease her way around the door, so as to not allow him access.

“She got in and realised he had followed her into the house and that he closed the door.”

The defendant allegedly asked if he should lock the door.

The woman told him no. He told her he was going to sit down and have a chat with her. She told him to get out. The woman realised he had his hands down his trousers.

Khan was alleged to have told her: “It’s because you are a very attrac-tive woman.”

He turned his head and beckoned for her to kiss his cheek. He told her: “I’m not going till you do”, the court heard. She gave him what she called a ‘tiny peck on the cheek’.

Mr Macro said: “He went to kiss her full on the lips, but she turned her head away. He managed to kiss her on the cheek.”

It is also suggested that Khan tried to kiss her again, but she pushed his face away and he left.

The defendant is alleged to have returned a few moments later, asking if she wanted a burger.
