A COMPANY boss who smashed a man's leg in four places when he dragged him from his van in a vicious road rage attack has been jailed for 12 months.

Mohammed Yasin had chased handyman Stewart Burn in his BMW after Yasin made his victim swerve onto the pavement and Mr Burn was said to have shouted an abusive comment.

Father-of-five Yasin, who had one of his children in the car, tried to hit Mr Burn then grabbed hold of his ankle and twisted it as he pulled him from his vehicle.

Yasin, a former drug addict, told Mr Burn: “I'm going to bite you,” and sank his teeth into his chest.

The defendant then attempted to gouge his eyes as the pair wrestled and the victim managed to hold him off, Burnley Crown Court heard. The hearing was told the onslaught, in a quiet street in Barrowford last August 10, was witnessed by several horrified residents, who heard Mr Burn scream out in pain.

Mr Burn, 45, spent almost a fortnight in hospital and needed surgery on his ankle.

The victim was devastated when he could not be a pall bearer at his father's funeral because of his injury.

The court was told how Yasin, of Manor Street, Nelson, blamed his victim, claiming he had been acting in self defence, but admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Silvia Dacre, prosecuting, said Mr Burn saw a BMW coming towards him on North Park Avenue on his side of the road and had to swerve to avoid it.

He shouted at Yasin who pulled up opposite him. Mr Burn had parked and Yasin got out of his BMW, ran over and attempted to strike him though the open window.

Mr Burn opened his door to push the defendant away and Yasin grabbed him by the right ankle, twisting it and fracturing the bottom of his leg in four places.

Yasin said he was disgusted with himself.
