AN investigation was underway last night in Burnley into a water leak which has affected a rural community for five days.
Residents living in Todmorden Road, Briercliffe, have had problems with water pressure since last Saturday.
And neighbours believe that a stream of water, flowing along the rural route, may be linked to the problem.
Coun Mark Townsend, who lives in Todmorden Road, said: “There is a huge amount of water bubbling up through the surface of the road and it has been like this since last Saturday morning.
“Water pressures have dropped for people living in the area with particular difficulties taking showers. It is outrageous that this has not been fixed before now.”
A United Utilities spokesman said last night that a response team was in the area and would examine the problem. If no apparent leak can be found then the road will be excavated to get to the source of the difficulty.
