AN EAST Lancashire charity is encouraging everyone to dig out their bobble hats in support of the area’s older people.

East Lancashire Age UK is asking everyone in the area to visit local stores in Accrington and Darwen on Age UK’s Bobble Day tomorrow.

People across the country will be getting involved in this annual fundraising extravaganza, raising money to help make winter warmer for older people who are suffering needlessly at this time of year.

Fluffy bobbles are available at stores for a suggested donation of £1 to brighten up everyone’s outfit on the day.

People can also fundraise with their own tea parties in honour of the day.

Tasneem Khamker at Accrington Age UK said: “Taking part in Bobble Day is simple and fun.

“Whether people join us or organise their own winter warming activity, everyone will be helping to raise vital funds for people in later life.

“We want to encourage as many people as possible to get involved and help us to warm up Britain this winter.”

Fundraising suggestions include getting a novelty knit out of the back of the wardrobe or a favourite fluffy jumper you can’t bear to part with.

And for a suggested donation of £2, wear your winter favourites and stay snug while helping someone older stay warm.

Or get Bobble Day off to a great start with a Warming Morning.

Whether you serve up speciality teas, frothy coffee or hot chocolate with whipped cream, you can ensure your friends and families begin the day with a warm feeling inside. Why stop there? Give your guests home-baked cookies to dunk or serve up bacon butties for breakfast.
