FIRE crews who battled a huge blaze at a convenience store in Burnley returned to the scene to give out safety advice to residents.
The Spar shop in Padiham Road was destroyed in a suspected arson attack on January 6.
Two crews from Burnley, one from Nelson and one from Padiham spent more than four hours tackling the flames.
On Saturday they handed out knitted gloves and hats donated by the Women’s Institute to elderly passers-by and also offered free smoke alarm tests to neighbouring houses.
Steve Morgan, station manager at Burnley fire station said the idea was to engage with the community and make it known that they were not forgotten about after the incident.
He said: “We don’t just turn up and squirt water then disappear into the distance.
“We recognised the effect this fire had on the community and what a hub it was for the people here, especially the elderly. Hopefully people benefit from us being here.”
