FUNDING worth £750,000 has been secured to introduce kerbside waste collections in the Ribble Valley.
The money has been given by the Weekly Collection Support Scheme and will see mixed food and garden rubbish collected from the roadside.
The application for funding began in May 2012 and was completed in three stages.
As part of the conditions of the funding, the council will have to commit to providing the weekly service for the next five years.
Officers are planning to introduce 240 litre wheelie bines in June 2013 to allow householders to include certain types of compositable food waste with their garden waste.
The 140 litre bins already in circulation are to be collected in and redistributed.
