A MAN who orchestrated a ‘professional’ cannabis farm in Goodshaw has been jailed for almost two years.

Daniel Prince, of Lincoln Drive, Bury, was arrested by Rossendale Police in March last year after officers raided his production plant, in Barley Holme Road.

He will serve 20 months in prison after being found guilty of being concerned in the production of class B drugs.

Prince, 28, was discovered producing 5.23 kilogrammes of cannabis on March 12, and prosecutors described his base, in a unit at Britannia Mill, as a ‘professional £100,000 cannabis-growing operation’.

Nicola Prime, 26, also of Lincoln Drive, was sentenced to a 12-month community order by Preston Crown Court. on Friday for permitting the premises to be used for growing the drugs.

Sgt Michael McBain, from Lancashire Police, praised the role of his officers in bringing Prince and Prime to justice.

He said: “This is a great result, and emphasises the work being done by officers in Rossendale to tackle all aspects of drug dealing in the area.

“Officers are focused on targeting these offenders, disrupting their activities, and removing large quant-ities of drugs from the streets.

“If you have any information about illegal drug activity in your area, please let us know.

“Tell-tale signs of growing cannabis include strong smells, and taped-up doors and windows at addresses.

“If you have information about suspected cannabis cultivation, contact police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anon- ymously, on 0800 555 111.”
