Jimmy Cricket supporting Wilpshire children's charity

A COMEDIAN will be supporting a children’s charity based in Wilpshire this Christmas.

Irish comic Jimmy Cricket — famous for his “And there’s more” catchphraise — is hosting a concert at the St Mary’s Centre in Clitheroe in aid of Child Action Northwest, which has its headquarters at the former Blackburn orphanage.

The event is being held on December 14 to celebrate the charity’s Founder’s Day anniversary.

Producer Eric Nolan said: “The founder of the charity, James Dixon, put his life-savings into a bank account and £50 from a friend on this day, which for many years was celebrated with a Christmas party by the orphans.

“We’ve brought back the tradition of marking this date with a celebration of Christmas past and present using music and costumed readings, both humorous as well as serious.

“We are delighted that Jimmy has offered to support us in this way.

“He is a true family entertainer, the like of which you don’t see much of these days.

“We’re looking forward to bringing audiences a wide range of enjoyable festive music and song.”

The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets, which cost £5 including coffee and mince pies, are available by calling 01200 425522 or 01254 244700 or by visiting www.canw.org.uk.
