A TAXI office is set to operate from a premises in Croft Street, Burnley, after plans were recommended for approval.
The building would be used as a private hire booking offices with parking at the rear, as well as on the William Thompson car park.
Planning officer Cathy Ryder said: “The private hire company has been operating for many years from Gunsmith Place with allocated parking space on the Keirby Hotel car park.
“The company has been given notice to quit to make way for the refurbishment of the Calico building and is seeking alternative premises.
“The operator wishes to continue his 24 hour operation in the town centre, close to his existing business and wishes to change the use of a retail unit on Croft Street to his booking office, with parking for the private hire vehicles on a private parking area at the rear of the shops and six contract spaces on the Thompson car park.
“The car parking area to the rear of the shops would not be for the exclusive use of private hire vehicles as it is also available to the other shops and business surrounding it on a first-come first-served basis.”
