A YOUNG man involved in a street attack which saw a Nelson man receive eye injuries has been told he could face jail.
Liam Vyse, 20, was arrested after Philip Barnes, 55, was pushed into a stationary van parked in the town’s Sagar Street last July, Burnley Crown Court heard.
An appeal was made by police for witnesses at the time and eventually the van driver came forward to give a statement.
Vyse, of Banksfield Avenue, Hebden Bridge, admitted assaulting Mr Barnes on July 17.
The victim was said to have suffered injuries to his eye at the time of the incident, which took place at traffic lights. Vyse was said to be part of a three-strong group at the time.
Remanding Vyse on bail until January 7 for pre-sentence reports, Judge Simon Newell said: “All sentencing options, including custody, will be open to the sentencing judge.”
